Town completely outclassed their higher division opponents, but amazingly ended up on the wrong end of the scoreline. Cas played some fantastic football at a high pace to play Royston off the park in excellent conditions. Royston had 2 chances and took them both, with the 1st coming on the 1/2 hour mark, when the home sides striker managed to run onto a through ball to round keeper Ryan Holder to slot home from a tight angle. Town should have been at least 5 or 6 goals up at half time with Jordan Westwood and Martin Rogers both seeing efforts shade the post or seeing the ball not quite fall under the cross bar. Town enjoyed the advantage of a fairly strong wind, with Keeper Harper constantly putting the ball into the danger area. Royston were expected to play the 2nd half in very much the same way, however it was Town that again took the game to Royston, with Westwood seeing a header just creep over the bar and Rogers seeing 2 efforts again go agonisingly wide. With 8 minutes to go and with Town pushing for the equaliser, the home side took their 2nd chance when the home striker just managed to get his foot to a long clearance and lob Town's keeper to seal the win. Such was the dominance, the referee and home town coach admitted that they couldn't believe the out come of the game, but it was not to be. Taylor Kitchen and Kyle Huddlestone were rock solid at the back and Bradley Shaw covered every blade of grass as usual. Jimmy Watson, along with Martin Rogers and Jordan Westwood were excellent in attack.
